The Helensville Art Centre is gearing up for it’s final Art exhibition to be held in the current Karaka Street location prior to its move to beneath the War Memorial Hall.
Last year’s exhibition, opened by Mei Hill, included works from Nadine Herlihy and paintings of Pa sites by Bernie Malizia as well as works by Jeff and Helen Smith.
This year’s Matariki exhibition is coordinated by Pauline Denton gradually returning to take up her position as Art Centre coordinator after her return from an extended visit to the UK.
Pauline’s expected return was delayed by a medical mishap on the return journey suffering a deep vein thrombosis resulting in multiple cardiac arrests. She spent a number of weeks being treated in a Sydney hospital and then transferred to Auckland’s Northshore hospital to complete her treatment. Pauline has made a remarkable recovery and credits the help of all those who faithfully prayed and wishes to thank all those who have helped in so many practical ways, she say’s “it’s so good to be part of a community that cares when you are in trouble”.
