This programme provides confidential one-to-one teaching for anyone who needs help with reading and writing. It is based in The South Kaipara Men’s Trust in the centre of Helensville and provides flexible, supervised support in reading development free of charge.
Clients are initially assessed to establish an appropriate starting level and methods and materials are chosen to suit a learner’s needs. Flexibility is our key to successful outcomes and session times and dates can be negotiated. Each learner works individually with a trained volunteer, who themselves undertake regular supervision. All aspects of the program are the responsibility Dr Tony Morrison, a life-long adult educator.
We link up as needed with the wide range of services available in Helensville and surrounding areas. So if you know of men or women who would benefit from an Adult Literacy Programme provided free in Helensville contact us as soon as possible.
Please make initial contact with the Men’s Centre Director Frank Veacock, phone 09 420 8263 or 027 2288 603. On Thursdays and Fridays you can call in person at Alison McKenzie House, corner Porter Cres and Commercial Rd.
