Intruders were disturbed around midnight on the Sunday of Labour Weekend at Frech Orchards, Shelly Beach. The residents were alerted by the family dog barking furiously and security lights going on around the house, but the torchlight beam failed to locate whoever was in the orchard. The three-legged picking ladder was discovered lying flat the next day and avocados were found to be stripped from trees. Owners Fred and Chrissy Jones are naturally upset at the intrusion. Theft was also reported several years ago but this is the first recent instance. With the avocado season in full swing the matter has been reported to the Police.
