After almost six years of absolute pleasure building a venue for the enjoyment of artists and customers, past and present members of the co-operative Art on Track Gallery are greatly saddened to announce its closure due to the retirement and re-location of some of its members.
We have displayed and sold our own paintings and have hosted 45 very successful Guest Artist Exhibitions. Artists from far and wide working with a great variety of subjects and styles have contributed, culminating in a final exhibition by local artist Laurel North, who donated half the takings from her sales to Cyclone Relief Fiji. Laurel wishes to thank the public for their support.
Visitors to the Helensville Railway Station Trust Museum have been very impressed by the background to the model railway of the McKenzie Hills painted recently by five Art on Track artists. We wish to thank the Trust for giving us the opportunity and also for all their help during our time at the railway station.
Locals will also remember Janz Jewelz’ highly successful hand- made jewellery and more recently beautiful beaded jewellery by Halena McGechan. Also featured, Arataki Ceramics have been so popular with locals and overseas visitors, as have been the greetings cards of original paintings by the artists. Also to be remembered are the many, many paintings by the resident artists, who have been so lucky to have such a wonderful space to display them.
We would like to thank all our supporters for sharing our wonderful journey, we will continue to paint and will miss you all. But for now it’s goodbye from Audrey, Annabel, Marcia, Stella, Jan, Halena, Elaine and Lyn.
