Helensville Art Centre’s move to the basement of the War Memorial Hall is proving a great success, according to Centre Manager Sally Lush. The venue is light, bright and spacious and the exhibitions are generating a lot of viewer interest.
In a fabulous Pop Art exhibition in January, which included an original Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe painting, local curator/collector John Perry showed a number of fascinating art pieces and objects from his own extensive collection. Helensville is very lucky to have a historian/collector of his caliber in our midst. John followed this up with an Artist’s Talk in the gallery.
Also creating much interest in January was Mia Hamilton’s sculptural installation Daisy Blanket on the bank outside the gallery.
In February an exhibition titled ‘The Sea’ will feature work by Lilach Cohen. (See page 7)
