Gannet Colony – Follow directions to Maori Bay
Goldie’s Bush Walkway – 6 Constable Rd, Muriwai (10.4km from Waimauku via Taiapa Road and Muriwai Road)
Helensville Heritage Walks – trace Helensville’s past and how it relates to present day. Brochures with directions available from the Museum, Visitor Bureau and New Horizons.
Helensville – Parakai – Mill Rd – Parkhurst Rd, Helensville/Parakai. 45–60 minutes one way. A series of reserves and walkways starting with a circular track at Helensville River Reserve – (old tip site), along cycle/walkway to Parakai, turn right into reserve by Te Moau Stream (playground in Te Moau Reserve). Follow stream to Wharf Reserve and back into Parakai Ave.
Helensville Riverside – Creek Lane, Helensville. 30–45mins. Main entrance from Creek Lane. Boardwalk along river edge past former dairy factory to Mill Rd. Also a shorter loop grass walkway.
Kaipara Harbour Lookout – 4km from Kaukapakapa along Kaipara Coast Highway
Lake Ototoa – 31.3km from Helensville along South Head Road and left into Donohue Road. Short track to dune lake stocked with trout. Good for kayaking. Possible to walk around lake depending on lake levels.
Maori Bay – 11km from Waimauku follow Muriwai Road, turn right into Motutara Road, left into Waitea Road before Sand Dunz Beach Café, Maori Bay in on the right.
Muriwai – 11km from Waimauku follow Muriwai Road, turn right into Motutara Road.
Mosquito Bay – 41km via South Head Road, Steep track to small bay near head of Kaipara Harbour.
Mt Auckland – 22km from Kaukapakapa along Kaipara Coast Highway (SH 16), 3 km down Glorit-Kaipara Hills Rd, off Kaipara Coast Highway (SH16).
Omeru Falls – 7.5km from Kaukapakapa on Kaipara Coast Highway (SH 16)
