HIPPY (Home Interaction Programme for Parents and Youngsters) families recently celebrated reaching half-way through the year on the HIPPY programme. They gathered in the Parakai School hall for a morning of fun interactive activities, where children and parents worked together making lolly necklaces, stuffing paper creatures, decorating hats, naming cards with stickers, sewing pictures, making butterfly mobiles and beading.
Mrs Silby’s Junior class from Parakai School also attended the fun morning, as did some of the senior children who helped the younger ones with their activities. All of the HIPPY children received certificates and books for their hard work on the HIPPY programme, which provides HIPPY workbooks encouraging parents to spend regular quality time with their children while developing the skills necessary for their child to start school confidently.
The morning ended with a shared morning tea.
Enrolments are still open for all children between 3 ½ and 4 ½ who live in the South Kaipara. Phone coordinator Bernie Malizia on 420 7434 or 021 0220 6017 for more information.
