A few weeks ago the plumbing at our Kaukapakapa Playcentre created a flood over a long weekend, resulting in extensive damage to the property and its equipment. We are a small community and a volunteer-run centre relying heavily on funding to be able to operate, so we could really use your help right now!
Our 12 attending families are unable to use the centre until it has been deemed safe, including replacing the kitchen, several walls and the bathroom. As the repairs will take some time we are using this hiatus as a chance to raise funds. Because repairing the centre and replacing damaged items is a massive job we are asking for donations of any kind to help us get back on our feet.
Losing the use of our entire kitchen is a real setback as the children love to bake. Donations or donated goods, especially any kitchen appliances such as a fridge, stove, computer, electric frying pan and cake mixer, would be greatly appreciated.
Donations can be made through the Givealittle scheme at https://givealittle.co.nz/org/kaukapakapaplaycentre
Once we are back up and running – hopefully in May – we would love new families to come in for 3 free visits to learn what Playcentre is all about. We will be open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.15am – 11.45am. Please feel free to call in or give us a call on 09 420 5308.
