By the end of October our dining out options will have increased with the opening of
iMaxx owner Max Bisht is looking forward to opening his new café and bistro
iMaxx Café and Bistro in Parakai.
The lease of 167 Parkhurst Road is now held by Max Bisht, whose family business of brothers Max, Gulab and Gopal runs popular Curry Leaf restaurants in Helensville, Kumeu and Westgate.
A visit to the site of the new café in September revealed that the familiar building has had a complete makeover and now features mushroom coloured décor, grey carpet, LED lighting and smart wooden furniture. The new bar has a brick surround and a granite top.
Chef Ashley Scale, who has come from working in Matakana, says the café will bring a touch of Matakana class to Parakai and Helensville with a menu that is rustic, up-market and reasonably priced. For example the Salmon Chives and Kumara Cups brunch option, which consists of chives, feta and kumara mash layered in smoked salmon, with sautéed spinach, poached egg and hollandaise sauce, costs $18.50.
Serving locally produced food and wines will be a priority. Breakfast, brunch and café styled scones, muffins and friands will be available from 7am until 2pmand à la carte dinners will be served from 5pm – 10pm. Catering will be also available for business and Christmas functions.

There will be a specials board and the additional option to think outside the square. ”If there’s something you’d like that’s not on the menu, ask us,” says Ashley, “and we’ll see what we can do.”
