Lions LogoWe hope you enjoy reading about Helensville Lions Club and that it gives you a better understanding of who we are. Several of our members attended a weekend district Convention held in Whitianga. These conventions are a useful way of keeping us up to date with national and international Lions activities and initiatives.
At the Kaukapakapa Market this month our BBQ trailer was serving “The Works”. A new delicacy of egg, sausage and bacon sandwich. Our BBQ is at most local events so look out for us.
We are supporting a very worthwhile community project, the Christmas Day Lunch. Some 135 attended last year, so there is an obvious need. We also have given donations to Diabetes Youth, Helensville Women & Family, Helensville Hospice Shop to purchase storage shed and Waimauku Lions to boost their fundraising for a heart walker for a 3 years old who has a rare disability.
Our Book Fair is our next big fundraiser in November and don’t forget to look out for used/foreign currencies. Kiwi Bank now has a collection tin.
Our oldest Lion, John Old celebrated his 102nd birthday this month.
