Art CentreThe River and other stuff – Noeleen Healey’s Exhibition of Art Works celebrate the artists 85th year of living and loving!
“Painting is just another way of keeping a diary” said Pablo Picasso and since 1996 Noeleen has been keeping a visual diary of her feelings for Helensville’s Awaroa River.
After working long hours for six years to complete her Masters’ degree, Noeleen was told by her tutor “You can forget everything you ever learnt now. Just paint from the heart”.
Noeleen won’t let her reaction to that statement be put into print, but paint from the heart she certainly does. Every day she produces a series of small drawings, Art Centre (7)many of which she will do enlarged versions of in time for her exhibition, which will be the last in the Art Centre’s current Karaka Street location prior to it’s move into the basement of the Helensville War Memorial Hall. Noeleen’s exhibition runs from August 1st to the 30th, being open 11am-3pm Saturdays and during Arts & Activities sessions for Differently Abled adults Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2pm until 4.30pm.
